About Kite Hill

Our Mission

Kite Hill makes furnished stays effortless for guests and hands-off for owners. We manage premium short- and mid-term rentals in Kansas City with the care of a small team and the systems of an experienced operator.

Our Story

Kite Hill started in San Francisco in 2016, when Pete D'Auteuil opened a boutique co-living operation with 14 furnished private rooms. Over four years he hosted more than 400 guests, most of them professionals on month-plus stays. When COVID closed the business in 2020, Pete moved into multifamily investing in Southern California and Kansas City and advised other investors through brokerage.

Pete later partnered with Andrea Velez, an experienced short-term rental and property operations manager, and together they brought Kite Hill to Kansas City, Andrea's hometown. Today we manage a small portfolio of furnished homes and take on a limited number of owner partners who want their property run well without running it themselves.

    Pete D'Auteuil

    FOUNDER

    Pete founded Kite Hill in San Francisco in 2016 and hosted more than 400 guests there before moving into multifamily investing in Southern California and Kansas City. At Kite Hill he leads owner partnerships, investment strategy, and the guest experience. Off the clock, he's usually on a trail with Andrea and their golden retriever, Willow.

    PARTNER, OPERATIONS

    Andrea brings more than 14 years of property management and operations experience, from luxury vacation homes to large apartment communities in San Diego. Raised in Kansas City and fluent in English and Spanish, she runs Kite Hill's day-to-day operations, vendor relationships, and home design. She's also a devoted Chiefs fan.
