Our Story

Kite Hill was founded on the belief that short- and mid-term stays should feel like home—blending thoughtful property management with standout hospitality. With a growing network of fully furnished rentals, we offer high-quality, flexible living experiences for vacationers, business travelers, relocating families, and corporate clients.

Our journey began in San Francisco in 2016, when Peter D’Auteuil launched a boutique co-living operation with 14 private room rentals, hosting hundreds of traveling professionals from around the world over four years. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced a shutdown of the original business, Peter pivoted to multifamily investing, building a portfolio of apartments in Southern California and Kansas City, while also advising other investors in a brokerage role.

In 2022, Peter partnered with Andrea Velez, a seasoned expert in short-term rental management, property operations, and guest experience. Together, they migrated back to her roots and expanded into the Kansas City market, combining their experience to create a best-in-class hosting service—offering both short- and mid-term rentals tailored to the needs of today’s dynamic travelers.

Today, Kite Hill continues to elevate the guest experience with fully serviced homes and a co-hosting model that empowers property owners to earn more with less hassle.

    Peter D'Auteuil

    FOUNDER

    Peter is a real estate investor and the founder of Kite Hill. After creating and managing a co-living space in San Francisco, he saw firsthand the growing demand for furnished housing. He’s passionate about projects ranging from value-add apartment buildings to short-term rentals, always focused on creating comfortable, well-designed spaces and keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes. When he’s not managing properties or scouting new opportunities, you’ll probably find him on a trail with Andrea and their golden retriever, Willow—or chasing down the next great coffee spot.

    OPERATIONS MANAGER

    Andrea is the backbone of the team, bringing 14+ years of property management and operations experience to Kite Hill. Born in Colombia and raised in Kansas City, she’s managed everything from luxury vacation homes to large apartment communities in San Diego. Known for her hands-on approach, sharp eye for detail, and bilingual communication skills, Andrea keeps the business running smoothly and the spaces beautifully styled. When she’s not working, she’s likely cheering on the Chiefs or planning the next adventure with Pete and their golden retriever, Willow.

    Willow is the official mascot of Kite Hill —and she takes the role very seriously. This playful, talkative golden retriever is always ready for an adventure (especially if it involves water). Whether she’s splashing in a lake, backseat driving on road trips, or just making sure everyone feels welcome, Willow brings joy and golden energy wherever she goes.
